In our early single vessel system testing, we found some disadvantages using mesh bags.

  • First off, the mesh is more difficult and time intensive to clean.
  • The mesh can tear and will eventually wear out, while our stainless basket is meant to last a lifetime.
  • Lastly, our basket was designed to direct the flow of wort when draining. When lifting the basket from the kettle, the liquid will drain down into the kettle, while a mesh bag allows liquid to escape in various directions, potentially outside of the kettle.
